A Few of My Favorite Things…And Studio Updates
Hello there!
The Holiday season will be upon us shortly and I figured it was about time we’d get to know each other. To start us off I thought I’d share with you a few of my favorite things.
Landing on a season I favor is a near impossible task, however I have an affinity for snow. The soft glow of the endless white blanket as the sun rests just below the horizon. It brings me joy every winter.
When it comes to movies it’s not often I bring anything new into my rotation; A Knights Tale, Pride and Prejudice (the 2005 version of course), How to Train Your Dragon, and The Lord of the Rings trilogy are few of my go-tos.
The kitchen is one of my favorite rooms in my home, mostly because that is where the food is. All jokes aside, I thoroughly enjoy cooking and baking and most importantly eating. If I must order off a menu you best believe I’m getting a burger or tacos. A sophisticated pallet I possess.
Over the previous seven months I have been reading through the series A Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Mass. It’s one of the best series I’ve read in a while. I love a complex story line and strong character development, all of which this series delivers wonderfully. This year a dear friend started a book club and it has been a welcome challenge for my typical reading habits. It’s been a little over a year since I’ve gotten back into reading and has had a profound impact on my focus and imagination.
I enjoy a good hunt and nothing fulfills this desire like a good coffee shop and a trip to the thrift store. The majority of my wardrobe is second hand. In fact, about ninety percent of what I own is a proud thrift find or market place score. One of my favorite things to shop for second hand are frames, of which I use to frame my paintings and drawings. I find it adds a homely touch.
As I am sure I could go on about many more favorite things of mine, I can not go without mentioning my friends and family. The moments I share with those I care for, and am cared for by, is undoubtedly my favorite way to spend my time. Though some may live a few miles, a state, or half a world away they never fail to lift my spirits. And, nothing brings me greater joy than the opportunity to comfort, celebrate or simply just be present with those I care for.
I hope in my sharing you can reflect on what brightens your day. What little favorite things of yours can you bring into your every day routine? Selfishly, I hope collecting art is one of them.
It has been a busy month here in my little studio preparing for my upcoming arts festival. I am looking forward to my first ever Craftery Market later this month in downtown Perkasie. Drawing has made its way back into the forefront of my studio work in the form of floral still lifes. Mini oil paintings are making a comeback and the stationary is restocked with the crowd favorite (Farmers Market Flowers) as well as a few new for the holidays. If you can’t make it in person, I should have my shop inventory updated within the week. Keep an eye on your inbox and social media for the update!
